The operation of the systems in question is done by mechanical means, i.e. the water circulator (pump) which is put into operation according to the instructions of the differential thermostat. The differential thermostat compares the temperature of the water in the collectors and in the storage and when the temperature of the water in the collectors is higher then it activates the pump. They are used to replace solar water heaters for aesthetic or technical reasons or in applications that need large amounts of water.
Man takes advantage of the sun's heat by using solar thermal systems. These systems collect solar radiation and convert it into heat. The system is used in winter to heat the space by directly channeling hot water into the air conditioning circuit.
